FAQ
Straight answers, no runaround.
The questions buyers actually ask us, answered the way we'd answer on the phone. Each section also lives on its own page, where the topic gets the full story.
Service area & delivery
Do you supply seafood outside British Columbia and Alberta?
Yes. Our own fleet delivers through core BC and Alberta routes, and qualifying seafood programs ship Canada-wide by pallet, LTL and full load through established logistics partners.
Can 7 Seas supply businesses in Ontario or other provinces?
Yes — by pallet and freight program. We don't run route trucks in Ontario, but qualifying programs and multi-location group accounts are shipped through established logistics partners, designed around your volumes and cold-chain requirements.
Do you deliver fresh seafood nationwide?
Fresh delivery currently runs through our core BC and Alberta service areas. Longer-distance programs are built on frozen formats, which hold spec and quality far better in transit — but we can assess fresh opportunities case by case.
Can you supply a restaurant group with locations in different cities?
Yes. For qualifying groups we build programs around common specifications, consolidated purchasing and forecast volumes — one supply relationship, with fulfilment matched to each region.
What volumes make sense for pallet or freight programs?
It varies by product and route — that's an honest 'it depends.' Tell us what you move and where, and a specialist will map the options, including what isn't economical to ship.

Becoming a customer
Is there a minimum order?
Yes — minimums, delivery schedules and any delivery charges vary by region and account. Your specialist will give you the exact numbers for your area before you commit to anything.
Which areas get direct delivery?
Our own refrigerated fleet delivers through Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island and greater Edmonton, with scheduled and partner-supported delivery to Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky, the Sunshine Coast, the BC Interior, Calgary, Saskatchewan and Whitehorse. Elsewhere in Canada, programs ship by pallet and freight.
Can a small independent business open an account?
Yes — no account is too small to start, and plenty of our biggest customers started as one location. If you serve or sell seafood, tell us about your business.
How does account setup work?
A specialist responds within one business day, you talk through your menu or case and delivery needs, then a credit application and account approval — with Client Portal online ordering set up as part of onboarding.
How do I get Client Portal access?
It comes with a wholesale account — access is set up during onboarding, and any account manager or customer service rep can get you started afterward.

Private label & manufacturing
What's the difference between private label, co-manufacturing and co-packing?
Private label puts your brand on products we already make. Co-manufacturing means we produce your recipe or specification at scale. Co-packing means you have product and we portion, pack and label it into the format your channel needs. Plenty of programs combine all three.
What minimum volumes are required?
It depends on the product and format — a retail-ready pack program and a bulk foodservice item have very different economics. Bring us your target volumes and we'll tell you honestly whether the math works.
Can 7 Seas help develop a new product?
Yes — product development is led by our VP Production from the plant floor: commercial brief, sample development, costing and packaging review, QA and labelling requirements, then pilot production and launch planning.
What packaging formats are available?
Vacuum packing, IQF, retail bags, jars, vacuum skin packaging for selected programs — and retort processing for shelf-stable products — with retail labelling, bilingual requirements and barcodes handled in-house.

Do you sell to the public?
The wholesale operation doesn't — but the family does: visit 7 Seas Fish Market in Kitsilano (7seasfishmarket.com) or our Edmonton retail shop for personal purchases.
How do I request product specifications or certificates?
Use the contact form and choose 'Specifications, certificates or QA documents' — our in-house QA team prepares specs, certificates and letters of guarantee on request.
How do I offer 7 Seas a product or become a supplier?
Through the Become a Supplier form — tell purchasing what you're offering, its origin, volumes and certifications. Every submission is reviewed, and we reach out when there's a potential fit.
